Welcome!
We’re a family farm 1.5 miles North of Brookings, South Dakota dedicated to growing nutritious, flavorful, local food with sustainable practices…and a whole lot more. Our family has farmed here since 1946, but we are the first generation inspired to use some of our rich soil for vegetable and fruit production. No pesticides or chemicals. We are now accepting memberships for our CSA garden.
What’s CSA?
It’s Community Supported Agriculture
CSA has been a growing global movement for the last 30 years as a way to offer fresh, locally grown food to a community. It is a wonderful way for the farmer and the community to support each other. This year we’ll be growing about forty varieties of veggies and herbs.
You can also visit us at the Brookings Farmers Market.
Lots of good ideas are taking root! It's not just about healthy food, as important as that is, but it's also about healthy relationships and a healthy community. We are inspired by Joel Salatin, a pioneer in organic, sustainable farming. His purpose statement reads, "We are in the redemption business; healing the land, healing the food, healing the economy, and healing the culture." We will continue to host social events and start to host learning events. We’re all about learning and growing together…from the ground up. Thanks for visiting the Good Roots website!
